Individual Learning Plan
Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
Teacher Consultants and Candidates are guided in their work through the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) designed to further teaching practice. Mentoring/coaching during this period is individualized and based on each candidate’s assessed strengths and areas for growth, with a focus on increased student achievement. Goals for each participating teacher are developed within the context of the Individual Learning Plan within the first 60 days of the teacher’s enrollment in the program. Individual Learning Plans are submitted into MyConnect, and monitored by the Program Coordinator who ensures that the Teacher Consultant and Candidate adhere to the 60-day requirement. In the development of the ILP, Candidates and Teacher Consultants engage in a co-assessment process of the Candidate’s practice in relation to the Poway Continuum of Teaching Standards (aligned with the CSTPs). The co-assessment, the University Transition Plan and input from the Site Principal guides the development of a personalized Individual Learning Plan. The Individual Learning Plan is revisited and revised periodically as appropriate and is designed solely for the growth and development of the Candidate and not for evaluative purposes.
A menu of options for Professional Development is available to candidates based on their interests and areas of focus for growth. Educational Specialists will also complete trainings on the Special Education Procedural Handbook, SEIS and additional trainings provided by the Special Education Department as appropriate to the candidate’s context.
