Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP)

This course prepares students to take the Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. Instruction covers basic nursing skills, medical terminology, and basic anatomy and physiology and is taught by a licensed nurse. Students spend 60 hours learning theory, 100 hours in clinical or mock clinical experiences and up to 40 hours of related classroom activities including test preparation, group activities and labs. Students participate in a "Meet the Employer" event to learn about career options prior to the end of the course. The course may meet live on line via Zoom, in-person on campus and at a clinical site. Students are advised to have a computer with camera and sound capabilities for best participation in on line class sessions. Students must have a current physical signed by their doctors on a form the school provides. Forms and additional required paperwork are emailed to you after you register. Contact us if you wish to receive forms prior to registration or for more information.

Steps to starting the NATP 

  1. Sign up for the program

  2. Pay the full amount upon registration or arrange a payment plan and make a deposit upon registration

  3. Attend the Orientation 

    1. Take the Reading appraisal if requested

    2. Complete required forms (this is in addition to registration)

  4. Make an appointment with your doctor for a TB test and physical (use the Medical form provided by the school in the packet) Your medical exam must not be dated any more than three months prior to the class start date.

  5. Submit all of your forms to the Poway Adult School at 13626 Twin Peaks Road, Poway, CA 92064 Building 100, Attention: Denise McAndrews (please do not email personal information or medical records).

  6. Purchase 1-2 sets of Ceil Blue scrubs - top & bottom with pockets (Ceil Blue example here) 

  7. Purchase other needed items as requested by the program

  8. Start class on the scheduled date

Students may arrange a payment plan and are encouraged ot make a $450 deposit upon signing up for the course. Additional fees throughout the course are estimated at $300.
