Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP) 
Fall 2021 begins September 10, 2021 and ends December 18, 2021

Medical Form - Must be dated within 90 days prior to the class.
Students registering in this program must have proof of Covid vaccination with first dose given by September 2021. 

Classes meet two times per week: Fridays 4:00-8:00 pm and Saturdays 7:30 am-4:00 pm
For students enrolled in the fall 2021 NATP, Test Prep will be offered one weekend in January 2022.

This course prepares students to take the Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. Instruction covers basic nursing skills, medical terminology, and basic anatomy and physiology and is taught by a licensed nurse. Students spend 60 hours learning theory, 100 hours in clinical or mock clinical experiences and additional hours for test preparation, CPR and a "Meet the Employer" event. The theory portion of this program may be offered online. Please check the current school catalog for options. For online theory, students must have access to a computer with audio and video capabilities and the Internet. Students may be required and responsible for getting weekly Covid tests in order to attend clinic hours. Contact us. We are always happy to discuss the program with you.

Course Costs: $995. *This includes registration fees, textbook and fingerprinting. Additional fees throughout the course are estimated at $200 - $300 (see step 7 below for details). 

Steps to starting the NATP 

1. Get Registered - If you're new to Poway Adult School, click on "Register" at the home page of the Poway Adult School website and create a student profile or call the Poway Adult School office at (858) 668-4024.

  • You can register online with full payment. Simply open or create your student account and add the course to your cart.
  • To register with a deposit, go to or call the Adult School office at (858) 668-4024.
    • Then, call Nelly Jaoude at (858) 668-4024 x4006 or email Nelly to set up your payment plan.
    • The full cost of the course must be paid prior to the last day of class.
  • Find out if you qualify for financial support
    • If you are awaiting an answer about your financial support status, please let us know here
      • To hold your seat, you may need to make a small deposit while you are waiting
  • Go to the Adult School office to get your photo taken and receive your name badge on the days scheduled.

​2. Make an appointment with your doctor to complete your medical requirements 

  • Make sure your medical form is signed and initialed by your doctor.
  • You will need the following:
    • Covid vaccine (1st does must be by Sept. 30, 2021) as health care workers are now mandated to get the vaccine. All previous precautions are in place: testing, hand hygiene, mask, PPE.
    • Proof of negative TB test within 3 months prior to the class
    • Physical exam (use this Medical form - Form must be dated within 3 months prior to the class.
      • For example, if your class starts September 1, your physical must be done in June, July or August.
  • Bring the signed form with you to the first day of on-campus class.
3. Purchase one or two sets of Ceil Blue scrubs.
  • You will need a top and bottom with pockets
  • These can be purchased from various vendors. This example shows the "CEIL BLUE" color and is not intended to promote this company's business (Ceil Blue example here).
  • Ensure you have clean, skid-resistant, closed-toed shoes, any color (tennis / athletic shoes are acceptable)

4. Bring your actual social security card and a government issued photo ID card to class 

  • You must bring both cards to class on fingerprint day
  • Ensure your name is the same on both cards

5. Look for confirmation emails about your class

  • Please watch for emails from the School at the email address you used when you registered. 
  • You will receive an email from ETCN Instructure.com for your course materials which are on Canvas. Please accept this email and follow the instructions.

6. Start class on the scheduled date, attend all classes, and be at the right location!

7. Other cost details
  • Medical exam (before starting the course)
  • TB Test (before starting the course)
  • CPR class and card (approximately $47 in class within the first two weeks of the course)
  • "Ceil Blue" Scrubs (you will need these no later than the first clinic day)
  • Shoes (needed by the first clinic day. You can use clean, closed toed, athletic / tennis shoes)
  • Equipment you may choose to own such as BP cuff, stethoscope, etc. (optional)
  • Certification exam (this requires a cashiers check approximately 30 days before the end of class)

Dropping and Refunds:
If you need to drop the course after the start date, you may be responsible for the costs of fingerprinting and textbooks. Additional drop fees may apply based on when a drop occurs.
  • Students who choose to drop the course prior to or on the orientation date shall receive a full refund.
  • Students who choose to drop the course after the orientation but before the class start date shall receive a full refund less $110 (for the cost of fingerprinting and books).
  • Students who choose to drop the course after the class start date and within 8 scheduled class sessions shall receive a 75% refund.
  • Students who choose to drop the course after 8 scheduled class sessions shall forfeit all fees.
