Adult School Learners

Adults ages 18 and older have three choices for completing a high school education
  1.  High School Equivalency Test Preparation

    • In this choice you can prepare for one of two tests: HiSet or GED

  2. Earn a Poway Adult School High School Diploma

  3. Earn a National External Diploma (NEDP) 

Study in a Variety of Ways

Independent Study
Adult students meet one-on-one with their instructor once a week for assistance and testing. This program works for the motivated adult who requires flexibility.

Learning Center
The Center is a classroom environment assisting adult students to gain the necessary skills to complete goals. It provides students with learning opportunities using: direct instruction, computer-assisted instruction, video and audio-enhanced learning.

Online Learning 
This option is only available for the NEDP choice.

Steps to Getting Started
  1. Attend an Orientation or appointment with the Poway Adult School Academic Advisor
  2. Discuss and  select an option from the three above.
  3. Participate in assessment for placement
    • If possible, please bring a copy of your previous high school transcript(s)

Poway Adult School offers Typing tests Monday through Thursday from 9:00-11:30 am and 2:00-4:00 pm and Friday mornings 9:00-11:30 am. Call (858) 668-4024 for an appointment.

Car Parking Permits    Parking Permits for High School Campuses

Parking permits are required for students attending Adult Education classes during the day on any high school campus.  Instructors will distribute parking permits to registered students on the first day of class.   For more information please call 858.668.4024.
