Graphic Design & Computer Aided Design

Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D Printing (not currently offered)

Have you ever had a product idea in your head, only to see it on the shelf a short time later? This course will provide skills and tools for you to bring ideas and concepts into reality. You will learn the basics of Autodesk Inventor, a state-of-the-art computer-aided design (CAD) software, including sketching, 3D modeling, assemblies and documentation. Then you will learn how to prepare and 3D print your designs. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary.

Adobe PhotoShop Basics
Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop for creating surreal images by recombining photographs and other materials. Students will be introduced to the work of Erik Johansson, an incredible photographer who uses Photoshop to combine images in new ways to create what looks like a real photograph, yet with logical inconsistencies to impart an effect of surrealism. His work will inspire participants to think of ideas and compositions while learning the basic tools in Photoshop.
Adobe Illustrator
Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator for digital image making and basic graphic design. Participants will design a poster about a typeface and learn how the layout can be both attractive and informative. Participants develop a feeling for poster design in terms of how to use space and how to order characters/objects as it applies to 2D design. Experimentation and trying out variations are highly encouraged and become easy while learning the powerful tools of Adobe Illustrator.
