counseling week

National School Counseling Week 2024 will be celebrated February 5-9, 2024, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. The 2024 theme is School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused.  National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. School counselors are certified/licensed educators who work to improve student outcomes by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. Comprehensive counseling programs promote and enhance the learning process in three broad areas: academic development, personal/social development, and career development.

This special week provides recognition for our school counselors who implement these counseling programs. Our District recognizes counselors for their continuous encouragement of students and for helping them examine their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents.

School Counselors are professional educators with a mental health perspective who understand and respond to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population. School counselors don’t work in isolation; rather they are integral to the total educational program. Along with Student Services Assistants and Student Services Specialists, they provide proactive leadership that engages all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to help students achieve school success.
