Become a Parent Ambassador

A Parent Ambassador is an opportunity to develop leadership and advocacy skills while supporting parent engagement and the academic success of PUSD students with special needs.  The Parent Ambassador program helps increase the district’s capacity to build a community of leaders that support outreach to parents and families, to refer and link youth and their families in PUSD to special education services and other school site programs and resources.

We encourage you to consider this opportunity if you are:
  • a parent/guardian of a PUSD student receiving Special Education services
  • community-oriented with a commitment to providing support to other parents
  • available up to five hours per month, including attending some meetings and trainings
  • able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of parents

Some examples of our Parent Ambassadors' contribution to schools and community are:
  • 1:1 support when parents reach out with questions/concerns
  • collaborate with school staff and PTA/Foundation to promote inclusivity at school events
  • attend school events and functions (such as Open House, Incoming Family Information Night, Back to School Night etc.) to share information of the Parent Ambassador program
  • share parent engagement experiences, including successes and recommendations for improvement

It takes a village to raise a child. Your involvement makes a difference.
