Poway Unified School District (PUSD) warmly welcomes all English learner students and their families. We value the unique experiences, cultures, languages, and expertise they bring to our community. Our district is committed to providing the academic, social, and cultural support needed for English learners to achieve high levels of English proficiency and master grade-level standards, in line with our vision to prepare students for college, career, and life.
Our dedicated teachers and staff work daily to ensure English learners make academic progress while feeling safe and supported. They foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and communication to engage all students in a challenging 21st-century education.
The District English Learner Master Plan outlines our strategic support for English learners and aligns our programs with the California English Learner Roadmap. This plan will guide the ongoing development and evaluation of our services.
PUSD is committed to helping English learners achieve proficiency in both social and academic English, gain full access to the core curriculum, master grade-level content standards, and develop essential skills for college and careers. We aim to support English learners in becoming Fluent English Proficient as quickly as possible, while valuing their native languages and cultural diversity.
