Blazer Bulletin - June 7, 2013

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!   This is my final Blazer Bulletin!  I can’t believe that six years have flown by so quickly.   The fifth graders and I are off to new adventures in August.  I know that they will be ready for middle school because from grade Kindergarten (and some from Pre-School) to Fifth Grade, they’ve been a part of a wonderful school that offers the finest in education and good character building.    As your principal, it has been an honor to help guide the direction of a school as special as Stone Ranch.   I will always cherish the good bye Gathering that you had for me.   Your letters, cards, gifts, flowers, hugs and smiles will be in my heart forever.   For those continuing at the Ranch, I know that you will welcome the new principal and show him or her your Trailblazer Spirit!   Every morning, remember you can make it a great day or not –the choice is ALWAYS yours.

5TH GRADE PROMOTION: Stone Ranch 5th Grade Promotion will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at 9:00 a.m. in the quad area.  Please do not park in the Staff Parking lot.  This makes our teachers late for class.  We would love for you to park at the Boys and Girls parking lot.

LOST AND FOUND:  All items in the lost and found will be discarded or donated to charity (if usable) on Thursday.  Please come and claim what’s yours.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. D.:  i am proud to introduce our last installment of Trailblazer Television. This year I had 19 hard-working 5th graders that did an amazing job. Please make sure to view, share and comment on their latest video.

Next year Trailblazer Television will be implementing a new format. We will still have a news team, but it will be very small(five 5th grade students). We will be opening up TBTV to all students of Stone Ranch. Students of all grades will be able to submit videos to be included in the TBTV Newscast. There will be strict guidelines but I think with this new format, we will be able to share more diverse videos. More information will be provided once we get things rolling.

LUNCH MONEY:   Our school’s current over-due balance for school lunches is approaching $1,000.   Many of you were contacted last week, as there were bills in excess of $30 per student.   While some of you were very gracious and paid immediately, there still remain many overdue accounts.  In order to ensure that we have paid our school’s bill to the District Cafeteria Services, if your child owes more than $5.00 he/she will receive only salad bar and yogurt until the account is brought current.   We love your Trailblazers, and would never let them go hungry, but many do not want a salad and yogurt, so please ensure that you’ve paid the past due bill and have given enough to make it through the remainder of the school year.

CONTINUING REGISTRATION:  If you didn’t make it in to register, please come to the office as soon as possible.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS:

Dear Trailblazers and Parents, Staff Stunts Day took place today, Friday June 7th. This year’s Staff Stunts was the best ever! The stunts were Dry Relay, Wet Relay, Sticky Situation, Messy Morning Makeover, and Food Frenzy (eating). Teachers and students had so much fun during the events. Trailblazer families, thank you so much for helping us to fund this event by donating.  The Student Council officers would like to say thank you to our wonderful trailblazers and families for supporting the Council and all the activities we organized throughout the year. It has been our honor to serve the trailblazer community!  —submitted by April Hsu, Student Council Vice President

Trailblazer Tidbit…Trailblazer Tidbit…The Floating Lab…Splash! Went the net in the bay as it was grabbing those ocean animals. Everyone in 3rd seemed to love that wonderful Floating Lab. I heard every class got to catch sea animals and plankton. They did little stations like what was the color of the water and how cold the water was. In the middle of the whole field trip each class got to buy some snacks and that should have been lots of fun. But the whole 3rd grade didn’t go at the same time, they went on different days. Most of all the helpers at the Floating lab were really nice. The 3rd grade sure was really lucky to go on such a good Field Trip like that.—submitted by Carolyn Espinosa, Mrs. Finnegan’s 3rd Grade class

Band/Orchestra…Hey parents of Stone Ranch.  5th Graders have had a band and orchestra concert.  It was very successful.  Mrs. Pigorsch was very proud and I think the 4/5 graders loved it.  The parents of the performers were very proud of the performers.  The instruments for the band concert were the trumpets, clarinets, saxophones, trombones, baritones, and the flutes.  The orchestra instruments were the violin and the cello.  This was our last time with Mrs. Pigorsch and I hope everyone enjoyed it.  Submitted by Peyton Rollins, Mrs. Steller’s 5th Grade class .
