California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

Chapter 1276 s

Westview High School is an official chapter of the California Scholarship Federation.

What is CSF?

CSF is a statewide nonprofit (www.csf-cjsf.org) organization that recognizes high academic performance. Students who qualify for membership for at least 4 terms, one of which must be based on senior year grades, become a CSF Life Member. Our graduating Life Members are invited to a Life Member Banquet in June of their senior year, where they are awarded the CSF Lamp Pin and gold honor cord which they can proudly wear at graduation, and a certificate which recognizes their academic achievement. They also earn the official CSF gold seal on their high school diploma and transcript. Additionally, there are some CSF financial scholarships awarded by the state organization that are available to CSF Life Members.

Goal of CSF

The goal of Westview's chapter of CSF is to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of our strongest scholars. We encourage those scholars to accept the responsibility of being leaders in the community by posting volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Announcements of community service opportunities will be made on our website http://csfwestview.wixsite.com/wvcsf and via our WV Facebook group (please join!). There is also a CSF table with information regarding upcoming events, applications, etc in Ms. Loo's classroom, G116.

Membership

10th, 11th, and 12th graders may submit an application on each Friday during the month of September for Fall term and the month of February for the Spring term, at lunch in Ms. Loo's room G116. Membership for a given term is based on the grades earned from the previous term and at least six hours of completed community service. For example, for membership in CSF for Spring 2018, students will use their grades from Fall 2017, Quarters 1 and 2. Please see the application form for details of requirements for membership. All forms are available on our CSF Westview website: http://csfwestview.wixsite.com/wvcsf and also in Ms. Loo's room, G116. At the time you submit the application, you must have proof of your grades from the previous term and verification of at least six hours of community service (not necessarily all from one event). There is a fee of $10 per term.* These fees go towards the costs of the gold cords, certificates, the banquet, and registration fees. Checks may be written out to Westview High School with the name of the student in the memo section.

*No student will be denied CSF membership for lack of funds. Contact your counselor or Ms. Loo about a financial waiver.

CSF membership is voluntary and it is the responsibility of the student to submit the application EVERY term.
