PSAT Registration

Release Date: 9/10/2018
The PSAT will be held October 10 from 7:30am to 11:00am for RBHS students only.  The purchase date for the exam has been extended to October 3.

Exam Date:          Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at RBHS
 
Time:                   7:30-11:00 a.m.  – RBHS will have adjusted bell schedule that day
 
Cost:                    $18.00 – cash or check payable to RBHS (There will be No Refunds!!)
Grade Cost Payment Deadline Should I take the PSAT?
9th $18.00 Sept.   27 Sure, you are welcome to take the PSAT; get some exposure, see what it’s like.
10th Free Sept.   27 Yes! PUSD pays for all 10th graders.  Practice for FREE J
10th graders are already signed up, and do not need to register, or pay $18.
11th $18.00** Sept.   27 Yes, if you are planning to attend college, you should take the PSAT.  Practice is the key to improved scores.  So, take the PSAT in October, and then take the regular SAT in the spring.  Juniors could end up being National Merit scholars (see below).
**If you are a junior who participates in the free/reduced lunch program, you qualify for a fee waiver.  Bring a copy of your free/reduced lunch letter to Mrs. Curry in the counseling office and she will sign off on your waiver below.
12th NA NA Seniors no longer take the PSAT.  They should, however, continue retaking the regular SAT Reasoning Test through the December test date to show colleges you have improved your score.
 
What is the PSAT/NMSQT? The PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is an opportunity for Juniors to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs should they perform really well on the PSAT. Information about the NMSC programs, entry requirements, and scholarships can be found at www.nationalmerit.org.
 
What does the PSAT test?  The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills.  PSAT results will include feedback on your student’s strengths and weaknesses in skill areas necessary for college success.  Your student can then focus on areas that need additional study or practice.
