UPDATES FROM MR. CARLIN:

Terrapin Families,

I hope you will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday break with family and friends.  It’s a wonderful time to reflect on all that we are thankful for and to model gratitude for our Terrapins.
I want to thank you for creating the time to meet with your child’s teacher for parent teacher conferences!  Our staff worked hard to prepare with the intention of creating the best opportunities for growth and success for each and every Terrapin.  Please continue to work closely with your child’s classroom teacher throughout the school year.

We return to school Monday, November 29th and there will only be a few weeks of school until our next break in December.  You don’t want to miss a minute because these weeks will be jam packed with fun and opportunities!

Each November, I like to focus on appreciation for the month as we have a tremendous amount to be thankful for.

Throughout studies psychologists have shown that in both children and adults, gratitude can have incredible benefits:
·         Gratitude increases social connections – which studies show is essential for health and well-being
·         Gratitude increases altruism – which is a strong predictor of happiness
·         Gratitude decreases depression and improves optimism and positive emotions which in turn increase well-being, boost creativity, benefit relationships, and impact longevity
For more information on the power of gratitude:  https://positivepsychologyprogram.com/benefits-gratitude-research-questions/

Cultivate gratitude in your life whenever you can and please continue fostering opportunities for our Terrapins to practice sharing appreciation and gratitude frequently.  You will be amazed at how far the impacts of a little gratitude can reach!

Our students and staff continue to work hard everyday!  Please make sure to celebrate each and every student daily with love and support throughout the year.

Your positive messages change lives!

Together we make a huge difference!

The luckiest principal in the world,

Adam Carlin

Counselor's Corner, November 2021
Dear Terrapin Families,
Parents often reach out to me for strategies to help with their child’s behavior. There are specific skills that we can teach a child to help them learn how to manage behavioral issues such as how to control their impulses and how to express anger in appropriate ways....
