These free ebooks can be read in a browser or downloaded without creating an account. Ask Mrs. Fleming if you need help.  Ebooks are available 24/7 all year long, even during summer vacation.
  • - K-6 children's ebook database (Free until Aug. 31, 2020).   Username: tumble735

  • EBSCO K-8 ebooks (Mostly nonfiction) Log-in required. Ask Mrs. Fleming
  • OverDrive K-8 Shelf (AKA Sora): (Mostly fiction ebooks and audiobooks) Log-in with your school id and 4-digit password. or use the Sora app (see below).
  • Use the Sora app (if your child has their own device) Sora is already loaded on PVES iPads for grades 3-5. After linking the app to Park Village Elementary, it provides direct access to PUSD's K-8 shelf. It's very easy to use and designed for children. App set-up guide.
  • Sora Tip: Students are temporarily locked out of Sora if they borrow and return too many books in one day. Always click Read a Sample first to see what the book is like. Students can read unlimited samples. Only click Borrow when you want to read the whole thing.
  • Free Audiobooks for Kids While school is shut, kids can listen to Audible for free. There are hundreds of titles available.
  • Professor Garfield's TOONbook Reader (Younger students)
  • TumbleBook of the Day (Younger students - a new title every day)
  • Storyline Online has hundreds of free read-alouds performed by members of the Screen Actor’s Guild.
  • 100+ Free Video Read-Alouds. Compiled by the Indianapolis Public Library.
  • Unite for Literacy (Short books for emergent readers)

These databases help you find articles published in books and magazines. Use these instead of Google when you work on projects for school. You can be sure that the information is correct. Email Mrs. Fleming at for the log in information.
