Important dates an information for incoming Kindergarten students 


Kindergarten information

As required by State law, all children entering Kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2022. If your child's 5th birthday is between September 2, 2022 and February 2, 2023, they will be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten. For first grade enrollment, California law requires a child to be six years of age on or before September 1 to be legally eligible for first grade. (EC Section 48010)

Universal Transitional Kindergarten Information Night for Parents

Poway Unified School District will continue to offer Transitional Kindergarten (TK).  For the 2022-2023 school year, the range of birthdays for eligible students has expanded to 9/2/2017-2/2/2018. 

We hosted a Parent Information Night on March 30, 2022 to share more information about the district’s plan to move towards a full 4-year-old TK program by 2025.
