NEW! COVID 19 Information

If your child has any of the following symptoms:

COVID-19 SYMPTOM(S) PRESENT:

❏ Temperature (above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit) 

❏ Nasal congestion/runny nose

❏ Shortness of Breath 

❏ Cough

❏ Sore Throat

 ❏ Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea

❏ Fatigue 

❏ New loss of taste/smell

❏ Headache 

❏ Muscle/body aches

❏ Poor feeding/poor appetite

YOUR CHILD MAY NOT RETURN TO SCHOOL UNTIL:

1.      WITHOUT A PCR COVID-19 VIRAL TEST OR PCR COVID-19 POSITIVE 

·         at least 10 days since symptom onset or positive test date AND 

·         fever-free for 24 hours (without fever reducing medication) AND 

·         symptoms have significantly improved

OR

2.      PROOF OF A PCR COVID-19 VIRAL NEGATIVE TEST ·

·         72 hours after test date and symptoms have resolved OR 

·         10 days after test date and symptoms have significantly improved

 

IF YOUR CHILD HAS A CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITION WE NEED:  a signed note from a licensed MD/DO/NP/PA (who manages that condition) must: confirm the chronic diagnosis (i.e., cites labs, date-of-record when diagnosed); include provider’s contact information; explain how symptoms are unrelated to COVID-19; and be accompanied by signed consent for school to interact with MD/DO/NP/PA.  See Ms. Kathy for the certification of chronic medical condition form.

 

NEW! Halloween Costume Day

We invite your student to dress up in his or her Halloween costume on Friday, October 30, but we ask that you keep a few things in mind when selecting a costume.  We do not allow any blood, weapons, or costume masks (this includes full-face paint); please keep in mind that we have little ones on campus and we don’t want them to be frightened.  Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to a fun-filled day!  NO treats or trinkets are allowed to be passed out. 

 

NEW! Recycling Jack-O-Lanterns

Chaparral will collect Jack-O-Lanterns and donate them to local farmers, who will use the for animal feeding and composting.  This eliminates food waste, while we recycle natural resources, and supports our local farmers.

There will be a container at the front and back of the school for drop-offs.  Please bring your pumpkins by Monday, November 2.

 

NEW! Red Ribbon Week and No Place for Hate

This is your new school counselor, Mr. Hicks and I'm excited to share that next week is Red Ribbon week. (October 26th through October 30th) To honor this year's Red Ribbon week, we will be hosting the Rancho Bernardo High School Bronco Ambassadors! On Wednesday,  October 28th for AM/PM drop off, the Bronco Ambassadors will be assisting in handing out red ribbons for each student arriving on campus. All students will be screened prior to them helping with the handout process. “Billy the Bronco” will be in attendance as well to help with the process.

Red Ribbon week is a great opportunity for schools all over the country to promote making healthy life choices and being outstanding community citizens. Along with Red Ribbon week, Chaparral is also a "No Place for Hate" school. We will take the opportunity next week to discuss the No Place for Hate Pledge. Chaparral Elementary has a culture and climate where we believe in the six pillars. We pledge to always try to demonstrate trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. By doing this, we represent outstanding character. Throughout the year, the students will also be participating in No Place for Hate activities. Below is a video of the pledge the students will be taking in their classrooms:

School Site Council meeting
Our first meeting for the 2020-2021 school year will be on Thursday, October 29th at 8:00 am via zoom.

School Site Council 

Each public school has a School Site Council which is comprised of both school personnel and parents/community members. The purpose of the School Site Council is to review school goals based on school data and allocate the funds necessary to support the goals. This is a wonderful opportunity for family members who are interested in learning about the infrastructure that supports our children’s education. The School Site Council meets approximately 4 times during the school year from 8:00-9:00 am via Zoom.
