SB848 Prospective Classified Hiring Evaluation

 

For Applicants of Poway Unified School District

 

As of January 1, 2026, in accordance with Education Code section 44051 (as amended by California SB848), applicants for classified positions are required by law to provide a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, private school, or state special school or diagnostic center operated by the department, with which they have previously been employed, regardless of the length of service. This includes local education agencies outside the state of California. For all classified positions, please be comprehensive in disclosing any part-time, full-time, or substitute employment.

 

As such, applicants for classified positions may be required to complete additional information regarding their previous employers throughout the screening process.

 

Failure to disclose any previous educational employment will result in the disqualification of your application.

 

SB848 Requests

For Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and Previous Poway Unified School District Employees

 

As of January 1, 2026, in accordance with Education Code Section 44051 (as amended by California SB848) Poway Unified School District is required to disclose if, while employed by the District, an employee was ever the subject of any creditable complaints of, substantiated investigations into, or discipline for, egregious misconduct, as defined in paragraph (1) of subdivision (a) of section 44932. If the answer is yes, Poway Unified School District must provide all relevant records in their possession regarding the egregious misconduct when responding to the inquiry.

Merit System
Appointment and continuing employment of classified employees is based on the merit principle (civil service).  Statements of these principles and policies are expressed in merit system Rules and Regulations of the Personnel Commission of the Poway Unified School District and in the Education Code of the State of California.  Candidates successfully completing all phases of the application and examination processes will be ranked on the appropriate eligibility list according to their total examination score.
