The CAC Excellence Awards are a cherished tradition that honors individuals who go above and beyond to create inclusive, supportive, and empowering educational experiences for children with diverse learning needs. Families, educators, administrators, and community members gathered to celebrate this year’s recipients and the meaningful difference they make every day in schools and classrooms throughout Poway Unified School District.
This year’s honorees included educators, specialists, and support staff, who were nominated by families and colleagues for their unwavering commitment to student success, belonging, and educational excellence. Their work reflects the heart of what makes a school community thrive: relationships built on trust, encouragement, advocacy, and care.
“As a parent, this event holds a very special place in my heart,” shared Rosabel Agbayani, member of the Community Advisory Committee. “So often, families remember the individuals who took the time to truly see their child, believe in them, and create opportunities for them to succeed. Recognizing those people matters.”
Agbayani reflected on the profound impact educators and school staff can have not only on students, but on entire families.
“These awards remind us that small acts of kindness, inclusion, patience, and encouragement can change the trajectory of a child’s experience in school. As parents, we never forget the people who helped our children feel safe, capable, and valued.”
For Agbayani, the CAC Excellence Awards have become one of the most meaningful events of the year.
“This is truly my favorite event because it allows us to pause and celebrate the individuals who pour so much of themselves into supporting children and families. I have loved being part of the Community Advisory Committee because it brings together people who deeply care about equity, belonging, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
The evening also highlighted the power of collaboration between families, educators, and district leadership in creating school communities where all students are supported and included.
