Poway High Unveils Newly Designed Library

SAN DIEGO, CA—Poway High School officially unveiled its revamped library on Friday, the culmination of several years of work to transform the space.

Friday’s ribbon cutting revealed the completion of the renovation’s final phase, funded by a $30,000 Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant from the County of San Diego with support from Supervisor Joel Anderson, that created 900 square-feet of innovation space that includes features such as 3D printers, Lego sets, board games, and reading and project space. About 1,000 square-feet of cafe-style seating and 13 alternative seating areas were added as well. This latest project also upgraded 900 square-feet of classroom and meeting space for students and staff learning, and collaborative needs.

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant awards funding to non-profit organizations and public agencies for one-time community, social, environmental, education, cultural or recreational needs. In total, the library has received $65,000 from the county and $5,000 from the Poway High School Foundation to support the redesign over three years.

Supervisor Anderson attended the opening to present a framed proclamation to the library.
