SAN DIEGO, CA – Poway Unified School District is proud to announce the appointment of two highly respected educational leaders whose experience, dedication, and proven record of service will strengthen instructional excellence and support systems across the district.
| Associate Superintendent of Personnel Support Services- Melissa Griffith Melissa Griffith most recently served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Organizational Development for the South Bay Union School District and brings 17 years of educational leadership experience. Her previous roles include Executive Director of Human Resources and Principal in South Bay Union, as well as Director of West View Learning Center/Extended Learning and Coordinator of Extended Learning. Griffith holds a Master of Science in Educational Management from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Physical Education from Houston Baptist University. She has also completed extensive human resources training through the Association of California School Administrators and Harvard University. A visionary educational leader, Griffith is recognized for her expertise in personnel management, employee relations, and organizational development, with a proven record of leading HR operations, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and fostering collaborative relationships to support exceptional educational outcomes. |

| Principal, Black Mountain Middle School - Bonnie Gonzalez Bonnie Gonzalez is bringing 26 years of experience in education to her new leadership role at Black Mountain Middle School. She most recently served as Assistant Principal at Oak Valley Middle School and has been an educator in Poway Unified since 2006. Gonzalez earned a Master of Arts in Education in Math, Science, and Technology from California State University San Marcos and a Bachelor of Arts in Diverse Populations and Literature from National University. She is known for building strong relationships, developing data-driven systems, and fostering a positive school culture. Gonzalez is deeply committed to continuous improvement and empowering students and staff to achieve excellence in a supportive, collaborative environment. |
