Sysco helps Kitchen tABLE Academy students with culinary skills

Sysco Poway recently hosted students from PUSD’s Kitchen tABLE Academy for an afternoon of culinary lessons with Chef Henry Tran. In partnership with the Los Rancheros Kiwanis Club, students were trained on how to construct a well-balanced salad with a variety of healthy options, and also created pizzas with their favorite toppings.
 
The Kitchen tABLE Academy provides a full curriculum for students with autism and developmental disabilities, offering a vocational pathway to culinary, nutrition, smart farming, and green waste industries. The program’s goal is to hire students to work in its kitchen or future cafe and train future students, and encourage other employers to join the program’s mission of providing employment to special education students.
