Poway Unified Appoints Two New Leaders

SAN DIEGO, CA – The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) is pleased to announce two new leadership appointments. These leaders were chosen through a comprehensive and competitive selection process. Each brings extensive experience, a strong commitment to student success, and a forward-thinking vision for excellence in school and district operations.

Armando Obregon, Chief Technology Officer
Armando Obregon most recently served as Chief of Infrastructure and Operations at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. He brings over 18 years of progressive leadership experience spanning the military, government, and both private and public sectors. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he led critical network and cybersecurity operations in support of national defense. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Phoenix, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and is ITIL 4 Foundation certified. Known for his collaborative and visionary leadership, Mr. Obregon is an expert in cybersecurity, digital transformation, AI, and enterprise IT strategy.

Jeff Johnson, Director of Purchasing
Jeff Johnson most recently served as Assistant Director of Purchasing with the Poway Unified School District. He brings over 35 years of experience in business management and operations, including more than a decade in public procurement within the education sector. He studied Business Management at the University of Phoenix. A strategic and solutions-oriented leader, Mr. Johnson has a proven track record of optimizing procurement processes, building high-performing teams, and delivering cost-effective, compliant purchasing solutions aligned with district goals.
