(San Diego, CA) - The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) is proud to announce the appointment of Westview High School junior, Leanne Fan, as the 2025-26 Student Board Member.
On April 22 and 24, 2025, students from high schools across PUSD were interviewed by a Board sub-committee, consisting of members of the Poway Unified Board of Education, the Superintendent, the Chief Communications Officer, the Executive Assistant to the Board, and the outgoing Student Board Member.
“Leanne really stood out through her application, her experience, and her interview,” Superintendent Ben Churchill shared. “Her passion and dedication for serving students and improving how her school and the district meet students’ needs is inspiring. We know she’ll do an excellent job!”
Leanne’s term of office will be her senior year, starting with the August 14, 2025, board meeting and concluding with the June 2026 meeting. The duties of the Student Board Member will include providing continuing input for Board deliberations (excluding closed session items), strengthening communications between the Board and students, and representing all students and facilitating the discussion of all sides of an issue.
