Don't forget that there is no school next week, February 15 - 19, 2010. School resumes on our regular schedule on Monday, February 22, 2010.

Parent University: PUSD Student Support Services is offering an "Active Parenting of Teens" series to help parents parent their teenagers. The series runs Feb 25 through Mar 18, 2010 (Thursdays evenings) at Twin Peaks School (library). See flyer for details.

Thank you again to our families and volunteers who helped with our Science Family Night! Mark your calendars for our next Family Night on February 26th and travel around the world with us as we explore all of the cultures in our community. More details to follow.

Poway Unified is proud of its two-year kindergarten program, PEPP. This program is designed for children whose birthdays fall between June 1 and the December 1st cut-off enrollment date for kindergarten. For information about the program, contact Nancy Dannhauser at ndannhauser@powayusd.com . The waiting list opens Monday, February 1. The best way to enroll is by contacting Nancy Dannhauser, or by stopping in the Willow Grove Office to obtain an enrollment form and program flyer. Click here for PEPP information.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our second annual PTA Run 4 Fun! We are very grateful for the genersity of our Willow Grove community. More than $12,000 was raised to support our winter and spring programs that will enrich our Grizzly students' experiences at school daily!

Our next free family night is Grizzly Cultures Night on February 26th! Thank you to those of you who are hosting a station to help us all better understand the traditions and cultures of those families that make up our wonderfully diverse school community! Please join us and travel with your passport around the world in our very own multi-purpose room. Our PTA Association meeting will begin the evening at 6:00 PM, and the stations will open at 6:30 PM. Come learn and vote on our Nominating Committee who will be recommending the slate of our executive team for the 2010-2011 school year. Hope to see you all there!

The WG Yearbook Remember to turn in your order form for the yearbook in the yearbook box in the front office. This is your chance to take advantage of early bird pricing. Yearbooks can be ordered now for $19 through the end of this week. Starting February 22nd, the cost of a yearbook will be $24. Take advantage of the lower cost and look forward to treasuring the memories of this school year!

March is the time that Poway Unified (PUSD) begins to accept and process Student Transfer Requests. For Interdistrict Transfers (students who live outside the PUSD boundary) a new transfer request must be submitted EACH year for consideration. The transfer form is available at the PUSD office in Sabre Springs or from your resident school district office. Your current district must first sign the form to release your place, and then bring the form to the PUSD office for consideration. Intradistrict Transfers (students living in PUSD but requesting a school other than their school of residence) only have to submit a form if they are entering middle or high school. Intradistrict transfers are good for the time that the student is in the same school or school level. If you have any questions, contact Paul Gentle at 858-668-4162.

Mark your calendar for the next PTA Association meeting on February 26th at 6:00 PM, prior to the Grizzly Culture Night. Come hear about the exciting events for next fall, and help elect the Nominating Committee for the 2010-2011 Executive Board Team. Current team members will be available to answer questions about their roles if you are interesting in joining to help plan next year. Please plan on staying that night for Grizzly Culture Night from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Travel the world right here at Willow Grove! It is not too late to join the PTA! We are proud that more than 450 of our parents and friends have supported the school through their PTA membership. Membership envelopes are available in the school foyer during school hours.

Parents, thank you for sending your children to school with healthy snacks for lunch and snack breaks. Our children spend a long part of each day at school, and nourished tummies make focused learners!

Save the date! Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM is the Grizzly Street Scene! Presented by the Willow Grove Educational Foundation, this free event will be fun for the whole family! A flyer was sent home with your child last week. If you are interested in helping with auction items, contact Blair Golden at blairhope@yahoo.com . If you are interested in corporate sponsorship opportunities, contact Kim Lincoln at klincoln1@san.rr.com .

We are very excited that SD City Engineering Department has made changes to help with the flow of traffic at Willow Grove before and after school. Please note that there is no parking along the west side of Via Azul from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM on school days to allow cars to line up at arrival and dismissal times.

Please check in at the front office and wear your volunteer badge. Please do not take your badge home, but leave it in the box where you sign in and out. This is greatly appreciated, as we will not be reprinting badges later in the year.
