AppleNovember 16 - 20 is Parent Teacher Conference Week. Don't forget that each day this week, including Thursday, students are dismissed at 12:30 for parent teacher conferences. Students will have a 30 minute lunch period each day, excluding recess, and food services will operate as usual. If you haven't scheduled a conference with your child's teacher, please do so right away.

November 23 - 27 is our District recess, the week of Thanksgiving. There is no school that week.

Save the date...our next Family Night is around the corner. Come explore the wonders of Science with hands on activities for all to enjoy on Friday, Dec. 4th in the Willow Grove MPR. Fun for the whole family!

runningThere will be no Running Club this week. We will be having Friday Flag at 9:10 AM in the Outdoor Amphitheater.

Make this Friday morning a little easier too and join the Foundation in aBreakfast new tradition. Each month at Friday Flag, the Foundation will offer breakfast items for purchase. Muffins, bananas, juice, chocolate milk-- and yes, your morning coffee too -- will all be available starting at 8:15 AM. Get in the most important meal of the day, AND support your school!

T-shirtsStudents don't forget to wear your College Gear on Thursday, and Grizzly Gear on Friday. Also, remember Grizzlies Go Green on Fridays with recycling and trash pick up as priorities for all of us!

ConcertA reminder for parents of fifth grade band and orchestra students that you are invited to the winter music concert on Wednesday, December 16 at 10:00 AM in the Willow Grove Multipurpose Room. Doors for audience seating will open 5 minutes prior to concert time. Please remind your musician to wear nice school clothes on the day of the performance. We lok forward to seeing you at the concert!

AngelWillow Grove is supporting Adopt-a-Family this holiday season. If you wish to participate, please visit the bulleting board by the attendance window in the front lobby of the school and select a star with one of their wishes. Many of the wishes include purchasing shoes for a child this season. Please consider helping to brighten their season. All donations are to be returned to the office unwrapped by Dec. 4th so there is ample time for Adopt-a-Family to deliver the gifts to the families. toys

Student Council will also be participating in Toys for Tots and the SD Food Drive. Detailed instructions on how to participate are coming home this week with your student. We are excited about this chance to give back to the families in our Poway Unified community!

PTA PARTICIPATION NEEDED: There are some great lunchtime opportunities for our Grizzlies to participate in. They are dependent on our wonderful parent volunteers. We are looking for parents that can help at lunch recesses either one Tuesday a month or one Thursday a month. On Tuesday's PTA has a partnership with the YMCA Playground Partners to provide fun and games to our Grizzlies. On Thursday's the Student Council is launching the Student Store. If you can help either the first, second, third, or fourth Tuesday or Thursday of the month from 11:20-1:00, please contact wgepta@gmail.com with your information. Thank you to all of our wonderful parents that help on Friday's to make our Running Club such a success!

Just a reminder to our wonderful volunteers that help support our teacher appreciation days and lunches, please remember that the staff appreciation event has been changed from Wed Nov.18th to Wednesday, Dec. 9th. Thank you for your understanding and all of your preparation work to make this a fun event!

H1N1Lastly, in more closely reviewing our absence data due to H1N1, I have noticed some patterns I would like to ask you for help in changing. Since school began in August, we have large numbers of students missing school on Fridays or Mondays, or being checked out early on Fridays. As much as we support quality family time, I hope you agree that your child's attendance at school is directly related to increased success academically. I encourage you to schedule appointments around school hours, and plan trips to minimize days missed. Thank you for your attention to this request.

We are very excited that SD City Engineering Department has made changes to help with the flow of traffic at Willow Grove before and after school. Please note that there is no parking along the west side of Via Azul from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM on school days to allow cars to line up at arrival and dismissal times.

Please check in at the front office and wear your volunteer badge. Please do notWear badges take your badge home, but leave it in the box where you sign in and out. This is greatly appreciated, as we will not be reprinting badges later in the year.
