EARLY CHECK OUT

Please try to schedule appointments after school hours.  Students arriving late to class or leaving class early disrupt the classroom.  If your student must leave campus early, please let the teacher know in the morning so they can have your student sent up to the office on time.  Please do not call the office to have your student dismissed, we will call when you arrive.

REMINDERS...

All visitors to our campus must check in through the Administration Office at the front of the school.

WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL?

Please take a few minutes at home to carefully check your child’s health before he/she leaves for school each morning. The following are a few suggestions, which may help to guide you:

REASONS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME!

~Illness during the night
~Fever is present (100 degrees or greater)
~Complaints of nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, diarrhea prior to leaving for school
~Development of a rash on face and/or body
~Has a severe cold, cough and/or sore throat
~Has inflamed eye(s) with discharge from them

Please Remember: An ill child cannot function properly in the classroom. The spread of illness and disease through class or school can be more easily monitored if sick children remain at home during the acute stage of an illness. If the school health tech detects any of the above, your child will be sent home.

People with influenza-like illness are to remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100o F [37.8o C]) without the use of fever-reducing medications.

A student’s absence should be reported on the School Absence Hotline by calling: (858) 674-6300 press #2.

CULTURAL NIGHT A HUGE SUCCESS
The 6th annual Cultural Night was the biggest and best so far!! Our MPR was transformed into a cultural explosion of color, music, dance, food, tapestries, games, and so much more. Thank you to those who came and represented your country. It was an educational and unforgettable evening! Thank you to the Chairs of this event, Roohi Darugar and Sally Lee, for their endless amounts of time dedicated to making this year's event the best yet.

DINNER NIGHT OUT AT SOUPLANTATION ~ JAN. 28TH
Join us on Wed., Jan. 28th, from 5-9 PM at Souplantation in Rancho Bernardo for our January Dinner Night! A portion of proceeds will go to the Foundation. Please see the attached flyer. We hope to see you there!

WG FUN RUN ~ THURSDAY, JAN. 29TH
Our Fun Run takes place this Thursday, Jan. 29th, between 9:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Parents, come and cheer your children on as they run, have fun, and raise money for our school! A Fun Run schedule is attached to the email version of this Connect Ed. In getting ready for the Fun Run, the campus is buzzing with excitement as the APEX team promotes this year's character theme....APEX EXTREME LEADER. Leadership was displayed earlier this year as students developed a petition requesting the return of the Hand Ball courts. The PTA is working with Mrs. Huff and the district to help the students achieve their goal. The final step is raising the funds to complete this project. Please remember this is PTA's main fundraiser and final one for the year. The PTA funds most of their programs with the support received by this event. We ask for your help to make this a great experience. WE NEED YOUR HELP DURING THE RUN!! Please sign up at the link below.

PARENTS, WE NEED YOUR HELP
During morning drop off, please make sure that you do not let your child out of the car until you have reached the drop off point in the traffic circle. Releasing students on Via Azul or in the parking lot in front of the handicapped spots is a student safety concern. Also, please be very careful pulling in and out of parking spaces. There have been several reports of damage to vehicles in the parking lot. Thank you for your help in ensuring that our Grizzlies stay safe.

YEARBOOK ORDERS
Yearbook orders can be placed online atwww.ptawillowgrove.my-pta.org. Please click on Yearbook tab and follow directions.

ROOM PARENT PHOTOGRAPHERS
Attention all Room Parent Photographers....this is the last week to hand in your class CD's for the yearbook. Please place your CD in the yearbook box in the front office. Thank you for your hard work.

It's going to be a grrrrrreat Grizzly week, see everyone tomorrow!
