PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONESS is a bridge between school and home which extends the excellence of each child’s school experience before, into, and after school. Our program is staffed by highly qualified professionals and trained Instructional Aides. We have an average adult/child ratio of one ESS staff member to approximately every 15 children. PROGRAM HISTORYThe Extended Student Services Program began in 1980 and it is now offered in every elementary school in the Poway Unified School District. This program is open to kindergarten through fifth grade students. PROGRAM ACTIVITIESOur staff is well trained to provide for the academic and social needs of your child in a safe and nurturing environment. We provide time, space, encouragement, and support for learning good study habits. Our program is geared toward expanding your child’s world through arts and crafts projects, science activities, reading and language reinforcement, and math concepts. Our program reinforces the social, motor, and academic skills our students are learning in the classroom. PROGRAM OPERATIONSOur ESS center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A fee of $1.00 per minute per child will be charged after 6:00 p.m. A child must be signed in/out of the center every day by a parent or guardian.
