Heat Advisory

During times of extreme heat we receive advisories from the San Diego Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and San Diego County Office of Education regarding the mitigation of heat related issues. Our coaches are trained in CPR and First Aid and to prevent and recognize heat related illness. Our Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director work with coaches in regards to heat related precautions. These include: increased breaks, increased water intake, reduced or canceled practice, and alternative activities. The same precautions are used during our PE classes.


The PSAT/NMSQT given on October 15, 2014 is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test. It also gives 11th graders a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. PUSD pays for all 10th grade students to take the PSAT. The cost for juniors is $18 and checks can be made payable to MCHS and brought to the Finance Office. The deadline for payment is September 24! We will have a modified bell schedule for all grades on test day. Click here for Registration Form.

Friday Bell Schedule

Mt. Carmel Bell Schedule is located on the right side of the MCHS website under Quick Links. There you will find the regular bell schedule and upcoming special bell schedules. Most FRIDAYS are late start days with 1st period beginning at 8:40 am. The following dates are NOT late start Fridays and will run on the Monday/Tuesday regular schedule: Aug 22, Aug 29, Nov 7, Nov 14, Dec 19, Feb 27, Mar 6, Apr 24, May 29 and June 5.
