Gifted students are those who are exceptional due to their markedly greater than average cognitive potential or ability, and whose exceptionality engenders special educational needs that are not likely to be adequately met through the regular core curriculum. They require a modified, differentiated curriculum in order to ensure their school growth and success. The purpose of GATE services in the PUSD is to identify and motivate highly able students to realize their full potential. The district seeks to formally identify and serve students whose cognitive aptitude is determined to be significantly beyond the level of their peers.

If you believe that your child may require GATE services, there are opportunities for your child to be evaluated this school year. You will find general information about GATE services and GATE test information from the GATE link on the PUSD Website (http://www.powayusd.com/Depts/lss/gate/).
