PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE May 13, 2013

Greetings Explorers!

Thank you for your support in helping prepare your child to do his or her best on this year’s STAR tests.  Our students worked very hard on these tests.  The staff and I are very proud of their efforts.

PTA General Association Meeting – May 23rd at 6:30 pm - Plan on joining me at next week’s PTA General Association Meeting.  At this meeting, I will be discussing the various classroom configurations that will be available next year.  At this time we will have two K/1 and 2/3 multiage classrooms.  I will be sharing information about the characteristics of a multiage classroom.  During the PTA meeting, we will be voting our new executive board for next year.

PTA Executive Board Nominating Committee - Hi Amazing Del Sur Parents, The PTA nominating committee is looking for current members of PTA to fill board & committee positions for the 2013-2014 school year.  We welcome newcomers to the school!  Positions and detailed descriptions will be posted, which have varying time commitments to accommodate all types of work schedules.  If you are interested and would like more information on the positions please contact:  Claire Spelta  (jjcyspelta@aol.com)  Dana Koenig (koenigs@san.rr.com)  Stacy Fletcher (sfletch51@att.net) or Lee Harms (leefersner@hotmail.com.)  Thank You!

Garden Event for Kids: Thursday, May 16 and May 30. 1:15-2:15. Come on over to the garden where we will tend to our crops. What is doing well? What needs weeding? What can be harvested? These are the things we will do. We will have two garden events in May.  As always, ESS kids will be escorted back after the event.

Meeting for Parents interested in next year’s Garden (2013-14). Calling all parents who are interested in helping out with next year's garden. We need your input. Whether you have ideas or just want to see what's going on - plan on stopping by.  Friday, May 17, 8:30 at the garden.

PTA DINE OUT EVENT AT FLIPPIN' PIZZA!! Join us on Wednesday, 5/22/13 for the biggest Dine Out event of the year!  We'll earn 50% of all food and beverage orders from 5 to 9 pm - dine in or take out.  Please look out for flyers to be sent home with your child by 5/17/13.  Come out to support the Del Sur Elementary PTA

NEW BOXTOPS AND LABELS CONTEST - Our last Box Tops and Labels contest for the school year is underway!  Each class will compete individually; not as teams. The contest will run through Friday, May 24th, with winners announced on Friday, May 31st.
