All visitors to our campus must check in through the Administration Office at the front of the school.

Please take a few minutes at home to carefully check your child’s health before he/she leaves for school each morning. The following are a few suggestions, which may help to guide you:

~Illness during the night
~Fever is present (100 degrees or greater)
~Complaints of nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, diarrhea prior to leaving for school
~Development of a rash on face and/or body
~Has a severe cold, cough and/or sore throat
~Has inflamed eye(s) with discharge from them

Please Remember: An ill child cannot function properly in the classroom. The spread of illness and disease through class or school can be more easily monitored if sick children remain at home during the acute stage of an illness. If the school health tech detects any of the above, your child will be sent home.

People with influenza-like illness are to remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100o F [37.8o C]) without the use of fever-reducing medications.

A student’s absence should be reported on the School Absence Hotline by calling: (858) 485-0042 x4202.

Homework can also be requested on this phone message, please indicate when you will be picking it up.

Principal’s Reminders

Lolligrams For Sale
Students can begin purchasing Lolligrams on Monday at lunchtime. Look for the Student Council tables by the blue benches on the playground. Lolligrams are $1, will be on sale until February 11th (or until they are sold out) and will be delivered on February 13th.  Don't delay as these are extremely popular and we often do sell out! We will have a limited number of Lolligrams for sale in the front office if you would like to stop by and purchase one for your child.

Meadowbrook Academy
All 5th grade parents are invited to an informational meeting to learn more about The Academy at Meadowbrook Middle School. A flyer should have come home with your student last week; if you did not receive one, you may pick one up in the office. The meeting will be in the gymnasium at Meadowbrook Middle School on Wednesday, January 28th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

Cell Phones/Communication
Please take a moment and make sure that your voicemail is set up and that you regularly clear your messages. If you need to update any phone numbers, simply contact the office. It is very important that we are able to contact you during the day if the need arises.

Parking Lot Reminders
Thank you to everyone for your continued help in using the yellow zones and the turn-out to drop off and pick up your children; this helps the traffic flow keep moving and makes the process run more smoothly for everyone. Please remember to slow down and always be aware of children and pedestrians; safety is our highest priority.

Lost and Found
Don't forget to regularly check the Lost and Found; we have a number of jackets and lunchboxes piling up out there!

Hawks Heart to Run Jog-A-Thon
Be on the lookout for information coming home later this week on our 2015 Jog-A-Thon. We're taking fundraising online to make it easier to earn money for our school and adding a few twists to the event itself. Hawks Heart to Run Jog-A-Thon and Health Fair will be on Wednesday, February 25.

The Palomar Art Council awarded fifteen Chaparral students with an "Award of Excellence" for their Reflections entries and six students received an "Award of Merit." These entries were among the thirty given an "Award of Excellence" in Chaparral's Reflections contest in the fall and were judged against submissions from across the Poway Unified School District. To see who was honored, go to Peachjar and view the Reflections flyer.
