Kid's NewsDay
The 19th Annual Kids' NewsDay is Tuesday, October 7. All over San Diego County that morning, hundreds of volunteers will be standing on street corners selling special editions of "The San Diego Union-Tribune" for $1 to benefit Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego. For the first time, Mt. Carmel High will be one of the sites of Kids' NewsDay. The MCHS Boys Water Polo Team will be volunteering their time as paperboys before school.
The regular Pulitzer-Prize winning newspaper that day will include a special section all about amazing local children who have made great strides against disease and adversity. Read about Josh Freitas of Rancho Penasquitos who was on the brink of death after doctors told his mother hill illness was just routine.
Every year it raises more than $100,000 for Rady Children's, a non-profit hospital that treats more than 220,000 kids per year from newborns to teens, for everything from traumatic injuries to cancer to broken limbs.
