  • TK Interest Wait List Information:

Parents of children with a fifth birthday between June 1st and September 1st, 2016 who wish to enroll their child into a TK class, MUST place their name on a District Interest Wait List. After March 1, 2016, at 8:00 AM, go to the District Website and select "TK Interest Wait List" to put your child's name on the list. The assigned TK school site will notify parents on the Interest List starting in June, or later in the summer,  of an opening in TK. The parent will then be given 48 hours to enroll. Due to increased numbers of students required to enroll in TK, please note space is very limited and will be determined on a first-come, first served basis.

Canyon View Elementary will facilitate a TK/K parent orientation meeting in August.  Please view the following power point as it may help to answer immediate questions that you have regarding our TK program and the enrollment process for TK and K.  If you have further questions, please contact our office.  Thank You!

Integrated Preschool Opportunity (Revised to Reflect 2016-2017)

Poway Unified School District is pleased to offer an Integrated Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Preschool Program for the 2016-2017 school year. The classrooms are located at Deer Canyon and Pomerado Elementary Schools. The program serves 3 to 5 year old children with and without special needs. A general education developmental curriculum is used and includes large and small group instruction. Students in the program who are identified as having special needs experience difficulty in one or more of the following areas: speech and language, social skills and play skills.

The success of the integrated program greatly depends on the inclusion of children without special needs who act as peer models. The children work as an integrated group by learning and playing together in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. The curriculum is play-based and imbeds academic concepts into play and social experiences.

    Other program details:

    ·        Class Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5 hours per day

    ·        Options: 3 day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and 5 day

    ·        Cost: 5-day program is $438 per month. 3-day program is $252. There is a one-time, non-refundable $50 registration fee.

Currently, there are openings available at both locations for fall 2016. If you are interested in having your child attend this program as a peer model the first step is to contact Olga Reyes at 858-521-2821 to place your child on the list to be screened. You will then be contacted by the site teacher to arrange an appointment for a screening at the school site to determine if your child is a match for the integrated program and to provide you with additional information about the program and enrollment process.

  • The Adopt-a-Family program was a great success at Canyon View again this year.  Officer David Garcia from SWAT was presented with the surprises prepared for him.  Officer Sam Stinnette will take over the Adopt-a-Family program next year and keep the tradition at Canyon View.

  • Local Boy Scout Troop #642, came to help do weeding and closed gaps between screens in our CVES Friendship Garden.  The troop was amazing!  In a couple of hours, the garden is almost 100% free of weeds and the gaps have been fixed!  When we arrived after summer, it looked like a jungle.  Now it is ready for our gardening classes with the students!  Thank you Troop #642!
