WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!
Please see your teacher or the office staff to complete the annual Code of Conduct form and a Megan’s Law Background Consent to have you cleared to volunteer or chaperone at Sundance.
The MEGAN’S law form is only submitted to the district ONCE.  If you are unsure if you have completed the form, please check with the office staff.
When you are on campus, you will need to sign in on our HelpCounter web site and wear a badge.  We reset our database every year, so your first entry will be as a VISITOR.  Please leave your badge with the office staff to create a reusable badge if you will be a weekly volunteer. TB Clearance is required for regular classroom volunteers.  The test is valid for 4 years.  If you have volunteered at Sundance in the past, we can check to see when yours expires.  If you are new to Sundance, a TB test may be requested by your health provider.

SUNDANCE CONTINUED CHARACTER EDUCATION (4 WAYS TO INCREASE EMPATHY)
Read stories and watch movies together-Ask your child how do you think that character feels? There is no right answer. The point is to encourage empathetic feelings and reflections and hone their ability to sense other’s feelings.
Allow your child to fully declare their feelings when they’re having a difficult time with a sibling or friend-Ask your child if they can also express what the other person might be feeling and why.  The point is to widen his or her sense of all that is truly going on in the situation.
Create a safe climate for your child to take responsibly for their feelings good or bad-There is no more effective facilitator of moral development than fostering children’s willingness to take responsibility for their good and bad deeds.  You can facilitate this by responding calmly and evenly when your child admits to misdeeds. They can still experience consequence for their actions, including your measured expression of disappointment.
Be a good listener-Take the time for open conversation with your child and answer their questions honestly, this provides endless opportunities to talk about caring for others. Lead by example and you’ll accomplish a lot.
