Course Descriptions:

 
AVID 6 -   AVID 6 is an elective to prepare our students with the tools of success for middle and high school, which in turn sets the foundation for their future advancement into college.  The mission of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is to close the opportunity gap by preparing ALL students for college readiness and success in a global society. The goal of the 6th grade AVID elective is to develop skills in the areas of focused note-taking, organization, study habits and leadership skills, time management, team building and college & career exploration. AVID 7Advancement Via Individual Determination – AVID is a nationwide program that prepares students for the rigor of college culture. The mission of AVID is to close the opportunity gap by preparing ALL students for college readiness and success in a global society. Students gain note-taking skills, writing and reading strategies, organizational preparedness, collaborative & leadership skills and build college and career awareness.  College tutors are employed to work with students in a group setting twice a week during class.
