Weekly Updates

October 14, 2018

Dear Ram families:
The 6th Grade Camp Butter Braid fundraiser continues this week.  This is a great way for students to help offset the cost of camp. This Wednesday and Thursday, our TPMS Band is hosting its own fundraiser at El Ranchito Taco Shop on Poway Rd. Be sure to present a flyer when you purchase.
New to Twin Peaks?  Please join us for a one-hour community event on October 17th at 5:30pm in the Library. We will discuss topics such as school culture, academic support, the role of our administrative and counseling teams, and how we can partner to support individual students during this important developmental time.  Most importantly, we want to capture your thoughts regarding your student’s transition to our school. If you are a returning Twin Peaks parent, you are welcome to attend as well. Please RSVP to Christie Hamilton at by Monday, October 15th to save your seat.
It’s time for the PTA’s Reflections Program. This national arts recognition and achievement program gives kids an opportunity to express their artistic abilities. There are six arts areas to choose from:  Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. This year’s theme is “Heroes Around Me.” The deadline is Thursday, November 1st. Turn in your original work at the front office. Entry forms and rules are available in the library.
I want to invite you to a movie presentation called “Angst” at the Rancho Bernardo High School Performing Arts Center on November 7th and 15th. This is a powerful film addressing teenage anxiety, including the signs/symptoms and resources. Admission is $5 per person and both parents and middle/high school students are encouraged to attend. There will be professionals in attendance to answer questions as well as handouts with services and resources listed. Tickets are available at Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
I will close with a reminder to please have your student turn in his or her Federal Survey Form to their Ram teacher. The completion of this form allows our school district to obtain additional revenues, which, if not applied for, are assigned to other school districts throughout the nation. All forms are due by this Friday.
That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow and remember, it’s a 6/2/4 day.
Dr. Burke
