Physical Education - Philosophy

It is our philosophy at Twin Peaks that physical education should be exactly what the term indicates: educating students about their bodies and creating enthusiasm for physical activity.

We strive to implement this philosophy in a personal and non-threatening manner so that each student can understand and appreciate the importance of attaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We accomplish this goal by offering a well-balanced program that meets and exceeds all state and national standards and parallels the focus of our current State Physical Education Framework. "Discover Yourself" is the focus of our sixth grade program.

The seventh grade concentrates on "Personal Development" with the eighth grade working toward "Activity for Life" strategies. We complement our program with extra curricular activities in athletics, intra-murals and clubs. Through these experiences we attempt to instill in our students a sense of personal responsibility to attain and maintain a healthy body and appreciate the quality of life that comes with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
