Mesa Verde Middle School
MATHEMATICS

MISSION
Our goal is to help students develop mathematical knowledge, understanding, and skills by providing rich mathematical tasks and deep-level questioning.

Curriculum
Our district has adopted the CMP3 curriculum developed through Michigan State University.  Students investigate mathematics in small groups and classroom discussions to develop deep understanding of mathematical concepts in the domains of Number Sense, Expressions and Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability and how they are applied in the real world. Our department develops and places strong emphasis on students’ abilities to explain their reasoning behind mathematical claims made and give supporting evidence through appropriate mathematical modeling.
