INFORMATION FOR ACADEMY FAMILIES
for the 2021-2022 school year
Early January 2021: Information sent to elementary schools regarding The Academy

5th grade families can expect a letter sent home with their child regarding The Academy informational meeting scheduled for February 3rd, 2021 from 6:00pm-7:30pm (virtually via Zoom).
February 3rd, 2021: Virtual parent and student informational meeting regarding The Academy

Scheduled from 6:00pm-7:30pm via Zoom (link to follow). Parents/Guardians of 5th grade students and interested 6th and 7th grade students not currently enrolled in The Academy may attend to learn about The Academy program and will receive information regarding how to access the Interest Form.
February 4th, 2021: The Academy interest form will be made available (digital and hard copy)

An interest form must be completed to indicate the desire to participate in The Academy for the 2021-22 school-year. This form will be made available to all interested families on February 4th, 2021.
February 10th, 2021: Deadline for Interest Forms

Interest Forms are due by 3:15pm on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 to the MBMS Office or submitted online.

February 24th-26th, 2021: Lottery draw at the District Office
Early-March, 2021: Beginning of notification to families of incoming sixth graders

Emails will be sent to all those who completed an Interest Form.
Mid-March, 2021: Beginning of notification to current Academy students.

Emails will be sent notifying current families of their child’s eligibility to continue.
Early April, 2021: Beginning of notification to new 7th and 8th grade Academy students.

Emails will be sent to all families notifying them of acceptance (based on available space) or waitlist status.
Late April-Early May, 2021: Family Night for all new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Academy Families, as well as all continuing 7th and 8th grade Academy families.
Meadowbrook Academy Lottery Process
- District staff from IT and Learning Support Services (LSS) worked with the site staff to identify rules for the lottery to prioritize selection.
- Siblings of continuing students, including twins or multiple births, are given priority if they have completed all expected requirements.
- PUSD employee who works at Meadowbrook in alignment with CA ED code are given priority.
- All other students are randomly selected through a lottery from the remaining Interest Forms.
- Children who live in PUSD attendance area and are interested in transferring, 85% of the draw is from elementary feeder schools of MBMS and 15% are from outside of the feeder schools area.
