The Leadership Crew (LC) will serve as ambassadors to our school community as students who epitomize Bobcat PRIDE (Positive Responsible Innovative Determined Engaged).  Members of the LC will work with students and staff in an effort to develop a positive school climate.  The Leadership Crew team consists of a select group of students from a variety of backgrounds, who work together as a team to engage students in positive activities on campus.  The Leadership Crew meets daily in their LC Bobcat class.

The following activities will be implemented by the Leadership Crew:
Student Orientations Year-round, members of the LC will provide new students a tour of our campus, orient them to classroom and school wide expectations, and when needed, connect them with potential friends or lunch buddies. LC members can participate with ASB in Camp BOOST in August to help orient our new 6th grade students to BHMS.  LC Members will also coordinate an ice cream social for all new BHMS students in the Fall.  Lastly, 8th grade LC members will visit our feeder elementary schools in the Spring to meet with 5th grade students to discuss their transition to middle school.

Bobcat and/or Lunchtime Activities Members of the LC will be responsible for implementing activities during Bobcat and/or Lunch.  Some of these activities may include mediating student issues, facilitating classroom presentations, facilitating a positive social lunchtime club, mentoring/tutoring students, and coordinating intramural sports.

Community Service Project Members of the LC will plan and implement a community service project. Some project examples include park clean-ups, coordinating food drives, campus beautification, or other student generated ideas.

Classroom Presentations Members of the LC will become knowledgeable in critical issues that impact school climate.  Students will develop Google Slide presentations, scripts, activities, etc. and facilitate classroom presentations during bobcat time. Some topics that the LC has presented on are Bobcat Bonding, Mindfulness, Empathy, What I Wish My 7th Grade Self Knew, Racism, See Something Say Something, and Self-Image.  The LC typically has 3-4 presentations per school year.

Peer Mediation Some members of the LC will be trained in peer mediation skills and will mediate minor peer-to-peer concerns.

6th Graders can apply for Leadership Crew in the Spring (March/April) of their 6th grade year for the following school year.  Grades, citizenship and teacher recommendations are taken into considered. Listen to the morning announcements closer to date for more information.
