Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Course Registration

Q: We have submitted the paperwork to attend Westview next year, but haven't heard back yet. What do we do?
A: Once students are approved to attend, our office is notified. We will then enter their information into our student database or roll the information over from their previous school. We will then contact the parent/guardian via e-mail. Depending on the situation, one of two methods of course registration is possible:
  • If approval is received during the online course registration timeframe, the parent/guardian will be provided with registration information, as well as other documents to assist with the course selection process.
  • If approval is received after the online course registration period ends, the parent/guardian will be provided with a worksheet to complete, as well as other documents to assist with course selection process. The worksheet will need to be turned in to the front desk at Westview.
Q: We have not been approved to attend Westview yet, but I am concerned all the classes will be full.
A: Course approval does not occur on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather, the master schedule is built on course requests received. If you are approved to come to Westview after the course registration period has ended, rest assured that you will get classes for next year.

Q: May we attend events related to course requests even if I am not yet approved to attend Westview?
A: Yes, you may. These include the 8th Grade Parent Night (for incoming freshmen) and Parent Open House nights. More information is available for these events on the 8th Grade Course Request page or the 9th-11th Grade Course Request page.

Q: How can I schedule an appointment with a counselor?
A: Counselors are not available to meet with individual families regarding course selection. However, information regarding the course request process is available through our Counseling website. You will find documents needed to select courses, a schedule of events and frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions that are not answered through the website or at the 8th Grade Parent Night (for incoming freshmen), then parents may attend one of the Parent Open House events.
