Letters of Recommendation

UC/CSU do not require letters of recommendation (with the exception of UC Berkeley who MAY ask students to provide an optional recommendation)
Private colleges may require a Counselor recommendation along with 2-3 teacher recommendations. Seniors will add their teacher recommenders In Common Application and in SCOIR. Detailed instructions are included on our Canvas Counseling class.
Counselor Letter of Recommendation Procedures
- Students can access the letter of recommendation form in their Canvas Counseling class.
- Upon completion of the counselor recommendation form, you will be prompted to select an appointment time with your counselor.
- Many colleges allow you to use an alternate recommender in lieu of the counselor letter. Please check with your colleges' specific policies. If you are planning to use an alternate recommender, please notify your counselor and we will provide you with the necessary paperwork. Some examples of an alternate recommender: administrator, school staff member, job supervisor, club advisor, community leader, religious affiliate, etc.
