Summer Updates

While we are still waiting for information from CIF and PUSD regarding start dates for our sports season for the fall, we have opened Athletic Clearance Registration. We do not have any deadlines posted as of yet, but will update it once the information is made available. We will not be accepting any forms until the July 20th at the earliest.

We advised parents/guardians to contact their physicians for appointment information to schedule a sports physical by the end of July.

The Westview Athletics website has been updated with this information, be advised that the required forms have changed If you are in need of a physician for a sports physical, please visit the Athletic Medicine, Sports Physical webpage.

Summer Cross Country Runs
: Monday - Friday at 8am, beginning Wednesday, 6/24 - Some Friday runs may begin at 7am to accommodate the long runs, but this will be later in the summer.
Where: Canyonside Park meeting by the Canyon entrances (not the Rec Center like normal)
1.) Athletes MUST adhere to social distancing rules of staying 6ft away from teammates at all times. This means before practice begins, after practice is over, during the run, and while we are stretching. Maintain proper social distancing at all times. This also means that if we are out running on the trail, and come across any individuals also on the trail, we need to provide them with the necessary space when passing. If you are passing someone from behind, make them aware of your presence ("passing on your right/left") so they also have the opportunity to provide a safe passing distance.
2.) Masks - While masks are not required while running, they are required to be worn before and after practice. So ALL athletes MUST have a mask or a bandana with them.
3.) Daily temperature checks. Upon arrival, all athletes will have their temperature taken. If the thermometer shows the athlete is running a fever, they will be sent home. So for parents who are dropping off their athletes, please do not leave until your athlete has had their temperature taken to prevent having to come back to Canyonside. This also goes for parents who drop off athletes prior to a coach arriving. If an athlete is feeling sick at all, please stay home and get checked out by a doctor prior to returning to the summer runs.
4.) Hydration - ALL athletes MUST bring their own water bottle. There is NO sharing of water bottles between athletes. Because it is summer, and hydration is important, any athlete who does not bring their own water bottle will also be asked to go home/sit out the run. I do not want any athlete to run and then have no means of hydration for them, as they cannot share from someone else's water bottle.
5.) Signed Waiver - In order to participate in the summer runs, athletes/parents must turn in the attached waiver signed. I will not have extra copies of these at practice so please print out and sign ahead of time. Any athlete who shows up without a signed waiver will unfortunately be asked to go home.
