Sports Physicals

What is a Pre-Participate Examination (PPE)?

California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) requires that a student receive an annual physical examination, (including an updated Health History), to be conducted by a medical practitioner certifying that the student is physically fit to particpate in athletics. Physicals must be completed by a medical practitioner licensed in the State of California.

How long is the PPE valid?

A physical is valid for one year from date of examination and must remain current for the duration of the sports season the athlete participates in. Forms may not be redated, a new form/examination and health history must be completed annually.
