Our ASB students will be placing visuals around campus commemorating African Americans along with the theme I Rise, I Rise, I Rise. Inspired by the words of Maya Angelou, our students will recognize influential African American and Black Americans in current society as well as historical icons so students can relate to, learn about, and reflect on their achievements. In addition, during our morning announcements, students will highlight influential African Americans by sharing their backgrounds, achievements, contributions to society and their career fields, and famous quotes. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate relevant literature, historical events, and significant contributions of African Americans in their respective subject areas. Our library will be celebrating African American Authors with their Black History Month display and our marque will proudly display that we recognize and celebrate the contributions and achievements of African and Black Americans.
