Many of our students desire to take classes at Palomar Community College. Palomar does allow our students to attend their campus with special permissions. Follow the directions below and on Palomar's website if you wish to enroll in any of their classes.
- If you wish to receive credit towards RBHS graduation for taking a class - discuss with RBHS Records Office or your RBHS counselor BEFORE taking the class. RBHS Records Office can tell you if the class has been previously approved for PUSD credit, or not. Form for request here.
- Palomar Summer - Registration for classes is typically at the end of April. However, courses may be available to view online or in their catalog earlier.
- If you are under 16 years of age, then permission to attend each class must be requested of the Palomar faculty member who will sign the K-12 Special Admissions Approval form if permission is granted. Palomar Admissions Staff will process your enrollment in person. (Note: You can obtain permission by emailing the Palomar professor - take a copy of the Palomar professor's reply along with your forms to your enrollment meeting at Palomar)
- Palomar Contacts for questions about the above:
Instructions for enrolling in Palomar Courses
If you are interested in taking either the Multivariable Calculus class OR Linear Algebra, or other Palomar classes here is what you need to do:
1) Go to www2.palomar.edu and "apply" to get a Palomar student ID number.
2) Fill out this special permission form: K-12 Special Permission
3) Email our registar (rbhs records office amartinsonfuller@powayusd.com) and let them know you plan to enroll - you must inform them immediately as the classes do fill quickly. Our records office will need your Palomar student ID # and your date of birth.
4) The K-12 Special Permission form requires a signature and our records office will get this for you. Give your form to them (not your counselor). Once our records office gives back your K-12 form, you give it to Palomar as part of your enrollment.
5) Register for the class of your choice. NOTE: even though the classes have a campus location, some classes may be offered ONLINE.
Palomar courses are tuition free (that's why you need the K12 form). Normally, the pre-req is a passing score on the Calc BC exam to be allowed to take Multivariable Calc or Linear Alg - but since your exam scores will not be available until this summer, Palomar will take our registrar's recommendation. That's why you NEED to let our OUR records office know if you plan to enroll, they can provide Palomar with a list of students that are recommended for the course.
Their classes often fill up fast! Make sure you have your Palomar ID first and have followed the steps above to register.
