The following information is specific to our in-person cohort groups and will help prepare our students as they return to campus. Students who chose to stay virtual will continue to attend classes virtually from home. 

  • In-Person Learning Information Beginning Monday, April 5th

As previously mentioned, PUSD high schools will begin providing the opportunity to attend class four days a week starting April 5th. The continued expectation is that students who have selected the in-person option will attend school in person. If your student attends less than four days a week, we ask that they attend on their originally scheduled days of the week in the A/B cohort model (A cohorts come Monday/Wednesday and B cohorts come Tuesday/Thurday; Fridays are asynchronous for all students). We will follow CDPH distancing guidelines of three feet in the classrooms. Masks are still required at all times on campus as is social distancing outside of class. Students will still be asked to hand wash frequently during the day, and hand sanitizer will be available in each class and hand sanitizing stations will be located around campus for students to use. During lunch students will stay socially distanced and put their masks on when they are done eating.  

As we will be combining cohorts, the traffic flow in the morning will increase. Please plan accordingly. Students can begin checking in at 7:30 a.m. in front of the school. Students will still need their ID card or the StudentVUE app opened when checking in. We will no longer temperature check in the morning as families will screen their students for temperatures and symptoms at home prior to arriving at school. Temperature checking is no longer part of the required guidelines in the morning at the school site. For students that drive to school, we ask that they park in the student lot and do not park in the staff or visitor parking spots.

If your student has decided that they would like to remain virtual, please contact Taylor Fong at so that we can move them to the virtual learning cohort. We have students who originally selected virtual learning who would like to move to on-campus learning and we need to make sure that we have space in classrooms that coincide with the CDPH guidelines.

  1. Students driving to school will park only in the student parking lot. Currently students will not need a parking pass. For health and safety reasons, the back gate on Deer Ridge Road will not be accessible in the morning.  

  2. If your student is experiencing symptoms of being sick, has a fever, cough, sore throat, etc., do not send them to school. Refer to the PUSD Parent/Guardian Health and Safety Agreement for in-person Instruction for daily home screening expectations. We also ask you to print, sign, and return the last page of the Health and Safety form. If you have not already returned this form, please bring to your first period class on the day you are scheduled to come to campus next week.

  3. When students arrive at school, they will proceed to the two gates adjacent to the library to scan in using their ID card or the StudentVUE app on their phone. If they did not have their picture taken by Lifetouch earlier this year, they can have their picture taken and receive an ID card at the front office after school until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students who have taken their picture but have not yet picked it up from the front office may do so after school until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We ask that students take a picture of their ID card and have it on their phone in case they forget their card at home. 

  4. Once on campus, students will move to the quad area, masked and socially distanced until 7:55 a.m. when our bell will ring to move to 1st period. Each period, students will be greeted by their teacher or school personnel (if their teacher is virtual). Student desks and workstations are separated by three feet to allow for social distancing in classrooms. Each room will have hand sanitizer for students to use as they enter and trifolds for desk tops should students want to use them. Students may bring their own hand sanitizer if they choose. Students will wear masks during class at all times and they will be socially distanced. Students cannot eat or drink in class for the safety and well-being of all. Each room, workspace, restroom, and lunch area will be sanitized by custodial services every evening. High-touch points will be wiped throughout the day and restrooms will be checked for restocking of cleaning products throughout the day. 

  5. During passing periods, students will be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing from their peers. Student restrooms will have a maximum number of three occupants at a time. Hand sanitizing stations will be stationed outside restrooms and around campus in outside spaces. Social distancing signs and placards will be posted around campus. Students can take a brief mask break while outside, drink some water, and eat a snack. Masks must be worn when not eating or drinking. Drinking fountains will be closed off for health and safety reasons. We ask that students bring their own water bottle/hydro flask type bottle and snacks while on campus. Our water filling stations will be open for students to fill their water bottle/hydro flask type bottle if they choose. 

  6. During lunch, food services will offer a grab-and-go lunch for students that choose to have one out of the ala carte windows adjacent to the covered lunch tables. In the covered lunch area, each table will have an occupancy of one student. Students will use the quad area to spread out and eat lunch. Masks must be worn at all times when not eating or drinking. Students will be asked to stay socially distanced during lunch. Students will not be allowed to congregate in groups that are not socially distanced. Students will not be allowed to eat in classrooms during lunch. Students cannot leave at lunch and return to campus for 4th and 5th period. 

  7. Students will need a device every day on campus for their classes. Please have that device fully charged.  If your student needs to check out a district-issued Chromebook they may do so next week. Students cannot share equipment or devices for the health and safety of all. 

  8. The following link will outline how students and staff can connect their devices to the PUSD wireless network, as well as installing the certificate on all types of devices. Once you click on the link, please choose the appropriate device type.

  9. Tuesday through Thursday tutorial classes will be capped at 18 in-person students for social distancing and health and safety reasons. 

  10. Students are asked to leave after their last class on their schedule and not congregate at school.  If they are staying for athletics or extracurricular activities, they will need to go to the predetermined location for check in.



Reopening Del Norte after one year is truly exciting for us!  It will take all of us to cooperate and support each other adhering to our protocols. Through our new reality, we can ensure we are all following the guidelines so we continue to stay open. Remember, wear a mask, bring your charged device and headphones or earbuds, stay socially distanced both in class and outside, wash your hands frequently, bring a water bottle, and remind your peers to do the same. We will continue to be flexible.  We will reserve the right to improve and adjust as needed to best meet the needs of reopening our learning community. Our collective efficacy and support of each other will allow us to be successful in reopening.
