Del Norte High School Field Hockey
February 1, 2021:
Updated! CIF 2020-2021 Field Hockey Guidelines & Covid-19 Modifications
Welcome to Del Norte Field Hockey's official website.
Del Norte Field Hockey has had a successful history since beginning in 2009. We have made it to the CIF playoffs every year, thrice to quarter finals, twice to semis, and last year winning the Division 1 Championship. We are looking to get back to the finals and need your help. Please consider joining one of the more successful teams on campus.
No experience is needed and we normally run three teams, so there is room for everyone.
If you're looking for camps and training during the summer in the San Diego area, the following is a short list:
Ticket To Play:
Everyone who would like to try out for Del Norte Field Hockey needs a blue Ticket to Play from the Athletics Office. If you do not have a Ticket to Play, you may not try out. See "Ticket to Play" page on
DNHS Athletics webpage for more information on obtaining your blue Ticket to Play.
Dates to work around during the season:
Please do not schedule to take SATs on Oct 3 nor Nov 7, 2020.
Mandatory Tryouts Begin:
August 6 - 9, 2019 between 10:00AM - 12:00PM on the turf. If you're on time, you're late!
Tryouts have been postponed until further notice. A new date will be posted pending CIFs new 2020-2021 athletics calendar.
***UPDATE***
CIF has postponed any CIF activities; including tryouts, practices, and competitions; until after an announcement on Jan 1, 2021. Check the home page of the DNHS Athletic website for more updates.
Some sticks are available to borrow, but you must have your own mouthguard, shinguards, and field hockey approved goggles. See below for the specifications on eye protection.
Eye Protection Information:
New for the 2020-2021 athletic season, the mandatory goggle requirement has been removed.
Though, high school field hockey players may wear goggles that meet the ASTM F2713-09 protection standard for eyewear. Approved goggles include both Polycarbonate (clear lens) and wire cage protective eyewear.
Note: International (FIH), USA Field Hockey and NCAA rules DO NOT permit the use of wire-frame/cage goggles, so the wire-frame/cage type could not be worn at any of these type of events. These include
Cal Cup and
Festival.
