Westwood Elementary School is a shining example of a school serving a community with diverse needs and interests, bolstered by a strong tradition of volunteerism. Adults are visible throughout the campus, supporting student learning. Students, in turn, give back to the community by entertaining residents, raising funds for service organizations, collecting Valentines and writing letters to deployed troops, and other community service projects. Dynamic partnerships include the Rancho Bernardo Chamber of Commerce, Casa De Las Campanas, a retirement community, Rancho Bernardo FLibraryoundation and The Bernardo Gardeners Club.

Westwood recently completed a Technology Refresh providing all 3rd through 5th grade students with 1:1 Chromebooks.  Students in grades K-2 have 2:1 access to Chromebooks. Westwood has been recognized as a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Staff, parents, and community members agree that the collaborative spirit on campus is Westwood’s greatest strength. By working together, an environment exists where learning is stimulating, child-centered, and focused on the unique qualities that all children bring to the classroom.
