What do I do if my student forgot something?
If your student forgot an item or lunch, please drop it off in the main office. To avoid classroom interruption, the office will email the teacher and your student will be sent to the office to retrieve their item.
How do I inform the school when my student is absent?
When your child is absent, please call the attendance hotline (858)674-6300 push #2 or email Mary Gore,
Office Assistant, at mgore@powayusd.com, or call directly at (858) 674-6300 ext. 6711 with any questions or concerns.
What if my student is tardy?
Students arriving late to school must come to the main office to receive a late slip.
Please remember – Tardy students walking into class impact the learning environment for everyone. Please be on time.
What are OCIS Contracts?
Should there be a planned absence of five days or more, please see Mary Gore, Office Assistant, (858) 674-6300 ext. 6711, in the front office, as soon as possible to set up a homework contract for the student. We ask for at least 10 school days prior notice in order for the teacher to have ample time to prepare schoolwork.
How late can my student remain on campus after school?
It is important that students are picked up at 3:20 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and on Thursday at 1:40 pm as there is no supervision after school. In the event that you are not able to get to school on time, your child will be waiting in the office for you. Your child needs to be picked up ASAP. The office closes promptly at 4:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and at 2:00 pm on Thursdays.
What if my student has no lunch?
Please try to avoid sending your child to school without a lunch packed from home, or without lunch money in their account. Your child will be provided a lunch from the cafeteria and parents will be required to pay outstanding balances.
How do I find out how much money is left in my students lunch account?
The main office does not have access to the lunch accounts so you may call PUSD food services office at (858) 668-2570 to get this information. Also, you may access your child's balance upon registering at www.myschoolbucks.com. The Poway Food and Nutrition Department is pleased to announce the implementation of a new computerized point of sale (POS) system. Where are the lost and found items kept on campus?
If your student has lost a sweatshirt/jacket or any other item, WGES lost and found is located in the main outside corridor. Please be sure to check periodically, as the lost and found items are donated periodically.
What if I want to talk to my student’s teacher?
The best way to contact your student’s teacher is through email. Please see the staff contact listing.
What if I want to request homework for my student?
If you would like homework for a student that missed school, please email your student’s teacher.
Can I bring my dog on campus?
No, please leave your furry friends at home. While it’s nice to take your dogs out for a walk when walking to and from school, please leave them at home or arrange to meet your student off campus. Arrival and dismissal is a very busy time, and we want to ensure safety for everyone. We also have students who are afraid of dogs. Thank you for your cooperation.
