Updates Bulletin

Good Evening Cheetah Families,
This is Mandy Bedard, principal of Tierra Bonita, with your weekly announcements.
Please join us this Wednesday, September 13th in the staff lounge at 7pm for our next PTA board meeting of the year.  Our principal, Mrs. Bedard, will be there to chat with us about new exciting programs being implemented at TBES.  Hope to see you there!
Have you set up your Walkstarter page yet?
Fundraising is underway and continues until we run the race on Tuesday, October 3rd, 8:00-10:40am. The kids are ready to have FUN, raise some FUNDS, and enjoy a RUN! Please see the attached flyer for all the details. Let's make sure our students continue to get awesome learning opportunities in science, technology, arts, reading and wellness!
How do you get started on Walkstarter for Race for Cyberspace?
1.     Go to tbes.walkstarter.org
2.     Click on “My Walkstarter”
3.     Log in using either a Facebook or Google Account. Parents, this should be YOUR account. You can log in and manage pages for multiple children.
4.     Add your student(s) as a Walkstarter Participant and follow the prompt to confirm.
5.     Create and publish your student’s fundraising page. Your child can design his/her own avatar and you can work with your child to establish fundraising and running goals.
6.     Share your student’s fundraising page with friends and family, near and far. They can make easy, safe, online donations directly from your student’s page. *Donors can even easily look for matching opportunities from their employer right on the Walkstarter site to double the impact of their donations!

Thank you for supporting TBEF's efforts to give our children an exceptional educational experience!
Our first scrip gift card order of the year is available for purchase! Scrip is a great no-cost fundraiser for your PTA.   Please see the attached form for an explanation of the program and how you can order.  Your child should have received an order form last Friday as well.  Send orders in to your classrooms or the front office by Friday, September 22nd.  Any questions?  Contact Marsha McDowell at  marshamcdowell78@gmail.com.  Thank you for your support!
If you are looking for a way to help out the victims of Hurricane Harvey, please consider following the links below to a couple of Amazon Wish Lists.  These are to support two different reputable organizations: the Houston Food Bank and Undies for Everyone.  For both lists, the address to ship the items directly to the organizations in Texas is available at check out.  Check out the flyer attached for more details.  Thank you to our PTA community concerns chair, Sharon Trom, for setting this up and providing a way for our Cheetah community to help out.

Please be on the lookout for more information on how we will also be supporting Helen Woodward Animal Center who is taking in rescued pets who lost their homes as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

As part of the Family Movie Night on October 13th, we will be having a book swap. Please start collecting your gently used books to bring to the library beginning Monday, October 2nd. You will be given tickets in exchange for books.  The tickets can then be redeemed for different books at the book swap on October 13th.   This is a great way to recycle old books and find new books to read!
