Updates Bulletin

Good Evening,
This is Mandy Bedard, principal of Tierra Bonita, with your weekly announcements.
As our District continues to improve safety practices, we want to remind families of the importance of See Something, Say Something. Student and staff safety is our number one priority and we appreciate your help in letting us know if you see something suspicious or out of the ordinary.  Our District, in partnership with law enforcement and the District Attorney's office, created a public service announcement (PSA) reminding our community of the importance of letting us know if you see something.  We understand that school safety can be a sensitive topic for students at the elementary age so we are leaving it up to families to decide what information they would like to share with their student and whether or not they would like them to view the PSA. The link to the video can be found below:
Some of our residential neighbors have expressed concern about the traffic that backs up on Tierra Bonita Road prior to dismissal.  This occurs because families are eager to pick up their student and they arrive 15 – 30 minutes before dismissal.  Since our students have not been released, traffic does not flow as students are not getting into vehicles.  We are asking for your support as we work to address this challenge.  Please arrive as close to the dismissal time as possible.  Once students are dismissed, traffic flows nicely and we are able to complete the dismissal process within 7 – 10 minutes.  We greatly appreciate your support with this as we work to address the concerns of our residential neighbors.
This Tuesday, September 18th, Twin Peaks Middle School has a minimum day.  Their students will be dismissed at 12:40.  As a result of their early dismissal, Tierra Bonita buses will need to access our parking lot to pick up some of our students.  Our parking lot and traffic circle will remain closed until the buses depart.  Once the buses depart, the lot will be opened to allow for student pick up in the traffic circle.  Parents are encouraged to arrive closer to 12:30 PM to pick up First through 5th grade students.  Kindergarten parents should plan to arrive early to find parking on the street as the parking lot will be closed at 11:45 AM.  There will be additional traffic, so please plan accordingly.
Let’s go, Cheetahs! We are about 40% of the way to our fundraising goal with only about 25% of our students participating. We could blast right past our goal if EVERYONE participates! Please help us get to $25,000 for all the awesome science, technology, arts, reading, math, and wellness programs TBEF provides for our school. Go to tbes.walkstarter.org today to help out!
**Remember, students who raise at least $75 by September 20th will earn special RUN LIKE A CHEETAH socks to wear on race day!**
Plus, you might be able to DOUBLE YOUR DONATION!
Go to https://tbes.walkstarter.org/match to see if your employer offers a matching program for charitable donations.

We've been back in school for a month and it's time to show some appreciation for our amazing TBES staff and teachers! This year we are trying something new. Instead of asking everyone to pick something up for the lunch, we are asking for gift card donations and we will have the meal catered from the delicious Kebab Shop in RB. This will include salad, safron rice, greek salad, pita bread, protein and veggies. Thank you in advance for supporting our awesome TBES team!
Please see the slyreply link below to sign up to donate:
