Updates Bulletin

12/9/18

Good Evening Cheetah Families,

This is Mandy Bedard, principal of Tierra Bonita, with your weekly announcements.

WINTER BREAK – SAVE THE DATE
Please mark your calendars for our winter break which will be December 24th through January 4th.  There will be no school for students during this time.  School will resume on Monday, January 7, 2019.

WELLNESS POLICY FOLLOW-UP
There have been some questions about our District’s Wellness Policy as it relates to class celebrations and parties.  Teachers are still able to have classroom celebrations throughout the school year and any food served during the celebrations will meet federal, state, and district nutrition standards.  Attached, you will find the Smart Snacks Standards that outline the nutritional guidelines for food served to students.

If you have questions about the Wellness Policy, I encourage you to reach out to me so that I can address your questions and concerns.

Join us at Chick-fil-A this Wednesday, 12/12, for our next family dine out night. Present the attached flyer from 5 to 8pm and your dinner supports our school. Eat more chicken, Cheetah families!

CRAFTS AND COCOA
Our annual Crafts and Cocoa event is coming up! Please join us Tuesday, December 18th from 12:30 to 2 PM in the Multipurpose Room. Children must be accompanied by an adult. ESS students are invited and will attend with ESS staff. This is a fun event and a great way for the students to make some holiday gifts. They will get to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa, a cookie, make 4 crafts, and create a yummy gift to donate to local Poway police and firefighters to spread some holiday cheer!  The crafts include a snowman craft, a snowflake craft, a make-your-own Washi tape card, and a build your own “rocket” station that the children can launch. Please bring a bag from home to carry your homemade crafts in.  They will also have the opportunity to take a photo with Santa. Please see the SlyReply below for donation help. We specifically need a volunteer Santa, photographer, and Santa suit. If you are able to volunteer for the above please email Anna Zelenak (calberkgirl@gmail.com) or sign up via the SlyReply link listed below:

MIXED BAG FUNDRAISER STILL OPEN ONLINE
Thank you for continuing to support the Mixed Bag Fundraiser.  We are getting closer to reaching our goal for a digital Marquee. There is still time to place orders through the end of December, so please visit www.mixedbagdesigns.com/tierra-bonita-elementary-school to continue shopping. If you placed a catalog order and turned it into your teacher, those items will be delivered to the school and distributed prior to the holiday break.

SAVE THE DATE: 2ND GRADE, EAT LUNCH WITH A LOVED ONE
You or a Loved One are invited to share lunch with your 2nd grade student on Thursday, January 10th at 11:55 am.  Please sign in on the visitor sheet before entering the campus.
