Enrollment for New Students


To Enroll New Students in the Current Year:

  1. Review the information on this page
  2. Confirm your assigned school, by your home address, on the district address lookup web
  3. Complete the site specific and district enrollment forms for elementary students
  4. Call the school office to make an enrollment appointment at (858) 487-8474 (during closures you can email amcgruder@powayusd.com)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO BRING FROM HOME AT TIME OF ENROLLMENT
____ Birth certificate, Baptismal Certificate, or Passport + 1 copy (Birth Certificate PREFERRED)
____ Original Immunization Record + 1 copy
____ Two (2) separate forms of residency verification + copy of each form of residency
(Example: deed to primary residence, lease agreement, utility bill)

PLAN AHEAD - Have immunizations completed.

**ALL CHILDREN ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THEIR VACCINATIONS FULLY COMPLETED/UP-TO-DATE BEFORE ENROLLING in grades TK – 12 unless exempted as provided by law. Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016, exemptions based on personal/religious beliefs will no longer be an option for vaccines required for school entry in California.**

Official immunization record must include:
 - Name of Child
 - Date of Birth
 - Name of immunization administered
 - Month, day, and year of EACH immunization
 - Name of health care provider or agency administering EACH vaccine
If you are taking your child to the doctor for their five year old physical and immunizations prior to enrollment, you may download the Report of Health Checkup for School Entrance  from the Poway Unified School District website (https://www.powayusd.com/enrollment/) under new student enrollment. The Oral Health Checkup Form is also available on the website. 

Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten Information

**The information in this presentation is intended as a helpful guide for parents on what to expect for their TK or Kindergarten child next year.  Please know that the dates and schedule details are all subject to change as we follow the district's response to the Covid-19 situation.**

PUSD TK/KINDER INFO
KINDERGARTEN = Students turning FIVE YEARS OLD on or before September 1.
TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) = Students whose FIFTH birthday is between September 2 through December 2.
Parents/guardians of children with a 5th birthday between September 2nd and December 2nd do not need to place their child’s name on the TK Interest List. Your child is eligible for TK and the Interest List is not necessary.
