Join your friends and fellow Wildcats at Chick-Fil-A in Carmel Mountain on Wednesday, February 28 for an evening of fun and fundraising!  A portion of each purchase made when presenting the attached flier goes to our Foundation!
Our students have been supporting the American Heart Association for the past 5 years as they are reminded of the importance of making heart healthy choices.  Students are encouraged to wear red on March 2 and wear a dollar (or FIVE?) bill on their shirt to be collected and donated to the AHA.  Mrs. Norris has been working on jumping rope, so students will be able to show off their jumping skills at lunch recess.  It is fun to see all students jumping rope that day!
Gerardy Photography will once again be the photographers for our Spring Photos.  All students will be photographed on Wednesday, March 7.  Order forms will be sent home with your child.
Thanks to Mrs. Felker, the show will go on!  This year’s talent show for students in 3-5 grade will be held on Thursday, March 22.  Information packets and applications will be available the week of February 26 in front of room 17.
The Twin Trails Foundation is galloping along planning this year's annual Auction.
This event generates the thousands of dollars the Foundation uses for the wonderful programs like Impact teachers, Science Lab and Chromebooks for Sundance and our students.

Save the date, APRIL 21, for the Twin Trails Round-Up. Yes, it's a western theme! PLEASE join the cavalry we NEED:
1.) Community Donations to auction (Live or Silent) - does your company wish to donate, goods, services or simply purchase an ad in our Auction Program? Let us know and we can provide the official letter for requests from the Twin Trails Foundation.
2.) Creative Minds - we will transform the cafeteria into the Wild West. Have some great ideas or donations or talents?
The Pony Express is cute but instead EMAIL Andrew Karcher: akarcher@gmail.com or Celeste Bauer CKTBAUER@YAHOO.COM - If you're joining the Cavalry, we NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
**** NOTE: We did not run a capital campaign this year so please support the auction as a major fundraiser this year, by either assisting in its execution or reaching out for auction donations.
We have quite a collection of unclaimed jackets and sweaters hanging on our lost and found rack.  Please take a moment to look through these items to see if any of them belong to your child.  If the item is labeled we will return it to the students, so please consider labeling your child’s items.
As everyone starts prepping for their 2017 taxes, there are a couple items, with respect to last year’s donations, that I would like to share with you.  First of all, Twin Trails Education Foundation is a qualified charitable 501(c)3 organization.  Our tax exempt ID # is 20-1105904.  Per IRS guidelines, total contributions under $250 can be supported by personal bank records.  No acknowledgment from the Foundation is needed.  However, contributions $250 or over must be supported by written acknowledgment from the qualified organization.  Therefore, if your total contributions for all events throughout the whole year are $250 or greater, you should receive an email or physical letter from either myself or Mrs. Joni containing your charitable contributions that are tax deductible.
In calendar year 2017, we held our Annual Auction Dinner (April), our Red Envelope campaign (August), and our Trick or Trot-a-Thon (October).  Per IRS Publication 526, you are only allowed to deduct the amount that exceeds the fair market value of the benefit received if your contribution entitles you to merchandise, goods, or services.  This would pertain mainly to items purchased at our annual auction as most of these items are purchased below their retail value – that’s how you get the good deals.  Contributions made during the "Fund A Need" portion of the auction, Teacher Experiences purchased, as well as any Jog-a-Thon or Red Envelope donations during 2017 are 100% deductible. If you have questions about the items you purchased or your deductible amounts, please reach out to me at loricc@yahoo.com
Disclaimer: The Foundation does not provide tax advice regarding your individual contributions during the year.  Please contact a professional tax preparer if you have questions regarding charitable contributions.   Lori Porter, TTEF Treasurer
If you have a student attending middle school next year and are considering OCIS PE, please contact Joni Gilbert.  There are strict guidelines for which athletic training applies for this option.
