Our Superhero themed fair is coming soon!  There will be many chances for you and your child to visit the fair; during library time, 20 minutes before and 1 hour after school Monday – Thursday. If you would rather not send money to school with your child, you may purchase a printable gift card at www.follettgift.com .  If you have a balance, you may use it at the next fair, shop online or donate to the library. 
We need your help to make our book fair successful.  Please consider donating food items for the Breakfast with Books or volunteering your time during your child’s library time.

BIRDING PROGRAM (grades 3-5)
Birding program to start this Wednesday!  We are one of a very few schools in the county that provides an opportunity for our students to participate in this very fun and educational activity.  Palomar Audubon has even donated 20 sets of binoculars. On Wednesdays, during lunch Alice Holmes, local birding expert, takes groups of kids onto the field to spot the plethora of birds we have on or near campus.  She could use your help.  If you can volunteer your time from noon to 1:15 on Wednesdays we would be very grateful.  The job could be as simple as helping to pass out and collect binoculars.  If interested contact Alice at greenheron@sbcglobal.net
Early Dismissal, October 26
Students will be dismissed at 12:55 to allow the staff to participate in Professional Growth activities on Friday afternoon.  We will dismiss at 12:55 both Thursday and Friday of that week.   Please make arrangements with anyone picking your child up from school on that Friday.

The 31st Annual Rotary Fun Run is tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2018, at Mt. Carmel High School. The date could change if the Sun devils have a home playoff game; all participants who have registered will be notified of the date after October 20.   Runners from grades 3 through 5 will run a one mile long course. Parenting a Gifted Child – Wednesday, Oct. 23, 6-8 PM  Willow Grove Elementary. Set your child up for success!  Has your child been identified GATE or gifted?  This evening will offer strategies for the three most common challenges gifted children struggle with: Perfectionism, Self-Confidence, Making Mistakes.  Register today online at www.powayadultschool.com  Class is $15/individual or $27/couple.  Scholarships available upon request, please contact the Caring Connections Center (858) 668-4084. 
Help Your Child Mange Stress and Anxiety – Tuesday, Nov. 5, 12-1:30 PM, Poway Adult School 13626 Twin Peaks Road, Poway CA   Our children are faced with many situations that make them stressed or anxious: school pressures, social challenges, etc.  What can we do to help them manage that level of stress and anxiety while still finding joy in their world?  Join us for practical ideas to help guide them through it all.  Register online at www.powayadultschool.com  Class is $16/individual or $27/couple.  Scholarships are available; contact Caring Connections at 858-668-4084
Running Club has begun for 1st – 5th graders.  Please remember to have your child(ren) wear athletic shoes when we run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during morning recess time.  The kids are invited to eat their snack and then come run/walk laps at the lower field, where their mileage will be tracked.  This parent volunteer and Twin Trails Foundation supported program encourages kids to get exercise and be rewarded with collectible foot charms and other prizes. As you enter the parking lot to pick up or drop off your child, please drive along the curb and pull up as far as possible. Please DO NOT leave your car unoccupied at the curb, or park in the two reserved spots.

We have a new Instagram Page to go along with our Facebook page it’s: sundanceelementary (all one word.) We have about 35 followers but mostly K parents. We’d love to get some other grades involved. This page will focus more on classroom activities vs. whole school.
